Mr. Schuster’s journey in service commenced in 1952 when Superintendent Corsten, recognizing his potential, appointed him as a clerk within the Western Samoa Police Force. Demonstrating unwavering commitment and outstanding performance, he was entrusted with overseeing the Beat Section in 1956, where he showcased remarkable leadership and devotion to upholding law and order.
His illustrious career reached its pinnacle in December 1976 when he assumed the role of Acting Commissioner, a position he executed with honor and integrity. In acknowledgment of his significant contributions and steadfast dedication to his duties, Mr. Schuster was formally appointed as the Commissioner of the Western Samoa Police Force in 1978, a position he held for 11 years. Throughout his tenure, he spearheaded numerous initiatives that left an indelible mark on the force and the community it serves.
Beyond his professional accolades, Former Commissioner Saunoamalii Sonny Schuster was revered as a beloved family man. Notably, he is the father of the current Minister of Police, Faualo Harry Schuster. His unwavering commitment to both his family and his nation stands as a beacon of inspiration for all.
