Second Cohort Graduates from Close Personal Protection (CPP) Driving Training

Apia, Samoa – Thursday, 15th August 2024 – The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) proudly announces the successful completion of the second cohort of the Close Personal Protection (CPP) Driving Training. The official ceremony, held earlier today, marked the conclusion of an intensive two-week program designed to enhance the specialized skills of our officers.

The event commenced with a solemn prayer, setting a respectful tone for the occasion. Senior Sergeant Junior Afereti, the CPP Instructor, provided insightful feedback on the training. He emphasized the significance of mastering CPP driving maneuvers, crucial for the safety and security of high-profile individuals. The participants were rigorously trained in essential techniques, including embus and debus procedures, which are vital for the swift and secure transportation of dignitaries.

Assistant Commissioner Leausalilo Norman Meni delivered the keynote address, where he underscored the importance of the training in strengthening the capabilities of SPPCS officers. He congratulated the participants on their dedication and commitment to the program, encouraging them to apply their newly acquired skills in the field.

The ceremony concluded with the official presentation of certificates to the graduates, symbolizing their readiness to perform Close Personal Protection duties at the highest level. This training is part of the ongoing preparation for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and other significant international events that Samoa will be hosting in the near future.
