In advance of CHOGM 2024, Tongan Police Officers will participate in a Close Protection course led by four Samoan Police Instructors.
The course is scheduled to begin at Nukualofa on January 29, 2024, and it will conclude there on February 9, 2024.
Senior Sergeant Junior Afereti leads a team of three qualified CPP Instructors, Corporal Fereti Sefo, Corporal Tyrone Mamaia, and Constable Visesio Peni to deliver the training in Tonga. Twelve (12) Tongan Police Officers will receive training from them over the next two-weeks.
Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo of the SPPCS spoke to the team before they left over the weekend.
This is the first time Samoa Police will deliver CPP training in Tonga and the Commissioner emphasized the significant of this regional cooperation between Tonga Police and Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services.
