FAREWELL SERVICE FOR DETECTIVE SERGEANT PENIAMINA PERITE

Apia Samoa – On Sunday, 25th August 2024, the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) held a solemn farewell service for the late Detective Sergeant Peniamina Perite at the Samoa Police Training Academy in Tafa’igata, Upolu. This special service marked the SPPCS’s final tribute to the late officer before his body was escorted to Safune, Savai’i for burial.

The memorial service was attended by the Minister of Police, Faualo Harry Schuster, alongside distinguished members of the Cabinet and other high-ranking government officials. The SPPCS Executive, Senior Management, and many colleagues of Detective Sergeant Perite gathered to honor his memory and to express their condolences to his family. His passing has left a significant void within the SPPCS, and his years of dedicated service were reflected upon by those in attendance.

On Monday, 26th August 2024, members of the SPPCS accompanied Detective Sergeant Perite’s body to Savai’i, where a large contingent of officers and the community gathered in solemn reflection. His final journey was marked by respect and remembrance, as officers from all divisions paid their respects to their late colleague. The day was somber, filled with shared grief and solidarity among the SPPCS members who had served alongside Detective Sergeant Perite.

The following day, Tuesday, 27th August 2024, Detective Sergeant Perite was laid to rest in his home village of Safune, Savai’i. The final service was attended by family members, close friends, and the SPPCS personnel, marking the end of a long and respected career in law enforcement. The burial ceremony was a time of reflection on the late officer’s contributions to the safety and security of Samoa. His passing will be felt deeply within the police force, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who serve.
