Apia, Samoa – Monday, 22nd July 2024 – Today, a new group of auxiliary members commenced their two-day training to assist the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) in preparation for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). This marks the fourth batch of auxiliary members receiving specialized training to bolster security and support during the prestigious event.
In a ceremony held to mark the beginning of the training, Assistant Commissioner Leausalilo Norman Meni shared words of encouragement. He emphasized the significance of CHOGM and the crucial role they will play in ensuring its success. “This is a golden opportunity to contribute to a prestigious event that places Samoa on the global stage. Your dedication and service during CHOGM will reflect our nation’s commitment to excellence and security,” Meni stated.
The auxiliary members will undergo intensive training focused on various aspects of security, crowd control, and emergency response. Their efforts are part of a broader initiative by SPPCS to ensure that all necessary measures are in place for the safe and smooth execution of CHOGM.
CHOGM is a biennial summit that brings together leaders from the Commonwealth of Nations to discuss global and Commonwealth issues. This year’s event is anticipated to attract numerous dignitaries and delegates, making the role of the auxiliary members even more critical.
As Samoa prepares to host this significant event, the commitment and readiness of the auxiliary members will play a vital role in ensuring a successful and secure CHOGM.
