The Olomanu prisons have something to be cheerful about, after twelve inmates graduated from the EFKS Missionary program. Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo and the Executive Management were in attendance with the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (EFKS) Chairman Rev. Elder Tunumoso Iosia, and Secretary General Vavatau Taufao; together with the ordained ministers who conducted these courses, as families and friends watch on in awe of the achievements these men have accomplished.
The EFKS Missionary Outreach Program conducted courses ranging from Spiritual education (Bible studies), English, Gagana Samoa and Mathematics. The Program was split into two categories, namely the Vaega Laiti (Juvenile) and the Vaega Matutua, with the distinction of the Vaega Laiti being assessed in all four courses offered by the EFKS Missionary, then the Vaega Matutua being assessed only on Spiritual education (Bible Studies).
Rev. Vavatau Taufao during his remarks shared success stories for some of the inmates who have further pursued education upon release and have seen the positive impacts these programs have on these inmates’ lives after being released and have gone back to the community.
Commissioner Auapa’au during his address uttered words of thanksgiving and praise in saying, “This is the day that the Lord has made and be glad in it, which echoes the reason why we have gathered here today, to celebrate great achievements. Further to Commissioner’s remarks, he congratulated the twelve inmates for their efforts and the hard work they put in. He also reminded the inmates of the significance of this program to them once they go out to the community”.
The EFKS Missionary Office Outreach Program began its collaborative work with Samoa Police, Prisons and Correction Services in 2014, eight years of the outreach program have progressed well and have seen positive impacts it has on the inmates’ lives.
SPPCS Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo acknowledges the ongoing support from the families and friends, and most especially to the EFKS Missionary group for the ongoing partnership they have built over the years and hopes to see it continue on in the coming years.
