AUXILIARY OFFICERS SWORN IN FOR SAMOA GENERAL ELECTION 2021

Auxiliary officers were sworn in at the Mulinuu Court house before Honourable Judge Talasa Atoa Saaga this morning. To ensure a secure and safe General Election, additional members have been utilized to supplement police work.

Auxiliary officers will assist police officers in maintaining law and order as well as the overall safety of the General Election. Majority of them will be deployed to work alongside police officers at polling booth sites. Auxiliary officers have been selected from civilian staff, new recruits and prisons officers of SPPCS and have all undertaken trainings prior to the sworn in ceremony this morning.

Commissioner Fuiavailili Egon Keil and the executive held a meeting with all the auxiliaries after the sworn in ceremony. Commissioner took the opportunity to highlight the importance of their role and the need to adhere to the Ministry’s’ code of conduct. He also emphasized that police work is challenging and that officers are expected to be firm and not be intimidated by any outside influence whilst undertaking their roles and responsibilities. Members were reminded to be vigilant and ensure a high standard of professionalism.

SPPCS is also undertaking numerous community awareness efforts to ensure Samoa enjoys a peaceful General Election.
