Monday, 15th July 2024 – Today, the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) commenced three critical training programs aimed at enhancing the capabilities of its officers and auxiliary members in anticipation of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Opening Ceremony for Auxiliary Member Training:
This morning, an official opening ceremony was held to inaugurate the training for auxiliary members. This program is designed to prepare these members to support SPPCS during CHOGM, ensuring additional manpower and seamless operations throughout the event.
Defensive Driving Training:
The second training initiative launched today focuses on Defensive Driving for SPPCS members. This training will equip officers with the skills required to safely and effectively operate SPPCS vehicles during their regular duties and throughout CHOGM, enhancing their ability to respond promptly and securely to any situation.
Close Personal Protection Training:
The third training program targets the final group of officers undergoing Close Personal Protection training. This specialized training is essential for officers tasked with ensuring the safety and security of dignitaries and high-profile guests attending CHOGM.
These comprehensive training programs are crucial in ensuring that SPPCS officers are well-prepared and equipped to handle the responsibilities and challenges that come with hosting a prestigious international event like CHOGM. The dedication and commitment of our officers to continuous improvement and excellence are commendable, and we are confident that they will perform their duties with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
