On May 24, 2024, 19 officers from the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) graduated from the fifth class of the Close Personal Protection (CPP) training course. This cohort was notably dominated by female officers, marking a significant step towards gender inclusivity within the force.
The officers, who work across various divisions of the SPPCS and at police station outposts in both Upolu and Savai’i, undertook an intensive two-week training program that began on May 14, 2024. The course included rigorous practical and theoretical assessments designed to prepare the officers for high-stakes personal protection duties.
The CPP training was led by Senior Sergeant Junior Afereti, supported by a team of highly qualified CPP instructors. This specialized training equips the officers with essential skills in close personal protection, enhancing their capability to ensure the safety and security of individuals under their protection.
The graduation of these officers underscores the commitment of the SPPCS to professional development and operational excellence, contributing to the overall safety and security of the community.
