Apia, Samoa – May 2, 2024 – Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Service (SPPCS) Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo, alongside Australian Federal Police (AFP) Assistant Commissioner Nigel Ryan APM, proudly announced the official opening of the Pacific Transnational Crime Coordination Centre (PTCCC) laboratory on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024. The inauguration ceremony marks a significant stride in the collective efforts of Samoa and the broader Pacific region to combat transnational crime.
While the PTCCC headquarters remains elsewhere, the establishment of this branch laboratory in Samoa underscores the commitment of PTCCC to decentralize resources and enhance operational efficiency across the Pacific region. Strategically positioned in Samoa, the laboratory represents a crucial hub for forensic analysis, intelligence gathering, and coordinated law enforcement efforts.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and advanced forensic capabilities, the laboratory is poised to play a pivotal role in addressing a myriad of transnational criminal activities, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, cybercrime, and money laundering.
