Earlier today, Friday 19th April 2024, the Training Unit premises at Matautu witnessed the culmination of two significant training programs as the Defensive Driving Training and the Bike Training course came to a close. The morning commenced with a heartfelt devotion, setting a reflective tone for the ceremonies.
Graced by the presence of esteemed members from the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services’ (SPPCS) Executive, the ceremonies received a boost of significance. Acting Commissioner Papali’i Monalisa Tia’i-Keti, delivering the keynote address, underscored the vital role these trainings play in equipping participants with essential skills for operating SPPCS vehicles and bicycles.
“The importance of these trainings cannot be overstated,” emphasized Acting Commissioner Papali’i. “They not only benefit the participants but also prepare them for the upcoming CHOGM and their day-to-day duties.”
In a gracious nod to the collaborative efforts fostering such training initiatives, Acting Commissioner Papali’i acknowledged the presence of Commander Superintendent Daniel Evans from the Australian Federal Police. Through the Samoa-Australia Police Partnership (SAPP), Commander Evans has been instrumental in facilitating these training opportunities for SPPCS officers. Papali’i expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the continuous support provided by Commander Evans and the SAPP.
Furthermore, Acting Commissioner Papali’i emphasized the significance of the SPPCS Executive members’ presence at such ceremonies. “Their attendance not only recognizes the hard work and dedication of the participants but also underscores the Executive’s commitment to their growth and development,” she stated.
