On 30 November 2023, AFP Advisor Detective Sergeant Adam Moore presented the keys to PTCN chair Commissioner Filipo, and formally signed the vehicle over to the PTCCC. This significant gesture reflects the unwavering commitment of the AFP to the Pacific Transnational Crime Network (PTCN) and the broader safety and security of the region.
By gifting this vehicle, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) demonstrates its continued support for the PTCN and its efforts to combat transnational crime in the Pacific. This commitment goes beyond financial support, as the AFP actively participates in local initiatives such as the Samoan Australian Policing Partnership (SAPP)
The transfer of this vehicle serves as a symbolic gesture of the AFP’s dedication to working closely with the PTN and other regional partners to address transnational crime threats and ensure the security and prosperity of the Pacific community.
The AFP’s investment in the PTN reflects a shared understanding that effective collaboration between law enforcement agencies across borders is crucial for effectively combating transnational crime.
This vehicle will not only serve as a practical tool for the PTCCC’s operations but also serve as a visible reminder of the AFP’s commitment to supporting the PTCN’s goals and objectives.
The Pacific Transnational Crime Network (PTCN) serves as a proactive tactical transnational criminal intelligence network for law enforcement agencies in the Pacific. The network currently consists of 28 Transnational Crime Units (TCUs) based in 20 Pacific Island countries.
The PTCN is coordinated and operated by the Pacific Transnational Crime Coordination Centre (PTCCC), which is based in Apia, Samoa. The center brings together local staff, seconded members from various countries, as well as advisors from the New Zealand Police and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
The PTCCC is chaired by the Commissioner of the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo. The AFP and New Zealand Police provide vital support to the PTCN, including through the provision of resources and technical expertise.
The AFP has made a generous donation and purchased a new vehicle for the use of seconded members of the PTCCC. This vehicle will replace the previously gifted vehicle from the AFP, which has reached the end of its serviceable life. This replacement demonstrates the AFP’s ongoing commitment to supporting the PTCN and its efforts to improve transnational crime response in the region.
