Third Batch of Auxiliary Members Begin Training at SPPCS

Apia, Samoa – On 19th July 2024, the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) welcomed the third batch of Auxiliary members who began their training to support the SPPCS during the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in October. This group will play a crucial role in ensuring the event’s security and smooth operation.

During the opening ceremony, Assistant Commissioner Leausalilo Norman Meni delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the significant opportunity these auxiliary members have to assist the SPPCS. He emphasized the importance of their role in contributing to the success of CHOGM and the honor of serving the nation during such a prestigious event.

“The training you embark on today is not just about learning the skills needed to support our services,” said Assistant Commissioner Meni. “It is about understanding the responsibility you hold in ensuring the safety and security of our community and our distinguished guests. Your dedication and commitment over the next few months will be instrumental in the success of CHOGM.”

The auxiliary members will undergo rigorous training to prepare them for the various tasks they will perform during the event. This training will cover essential areas such as crowd control, emergency response, and coordination with other security agencies. The aim is to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to handle the unique challenges of hosting an international event of this magnitude.

As the preparations for CHOGM continue, the SPPCS remains dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of security and organization. The inclusion of well-trained auxiliary members reflects this commitment and the collaborative effort required to host a successful and safe CHOGM.

The SPPCS looks forward to the contributions of the new auxiliary members and is confident that their involvement will significantly enhance the event’s overall security and management.
