Friday, June 14, 2024 – The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) is proud to announce the addition of 41 new police officers to its ranks. These officers, comprising 21 females and 20 males, have successfully completed the Samoa Police Basic Recruit Course and were officially sworn in on May 27, 2024. Their graduation ceremony took place today, marking the culmination of 17 weeks of rigorous training and dedication.
The ceremony was a distinguished event graced by members of the SPPCS Executive, Senior Management, and notable guests. Family and friends of the graduates filled the venue, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. The ceremony began with a spiritual preaching and prayer conducted by Rev. Gaolo Elisara, setting a reverent tone for the proceedings.
The Minister of Police, Faualo Harry Jeffrey Schuster, addressed the new officers with words of wisdom and encouragement. In his speech, he reminded the graduates of the importance of their oath and emphasized that their work should always be guided by the I-C-A-R-E values: Integrity, Courage, Accountability, Respect, and Empathy. These principles, he stressed, are the cornerstone of effective and honorable police work.
Deputy Commissioner Lafaitele Herbert Aati provided a comprehensive report on the performance and journey of the new officers throughout their 17-week course. He commended their dedication, resilience, and the significant progress they have made.
The atmosphere was electric with support and pride as family members cheered for their loved ones. Several graduates were recognized for their exceptional achievements during the course:
- Constable Rex Ofisa Ioelu Memea received the Students’ Choice Award.
- Constable Milton Tuaa Uelese was awarded the Most Discipline Award.
- Constable Vai Sealiitu Loccocca Aisoli took home the Best All Rounder Award.
- Constable Tanai Eteuati was honored with the Top Student
Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement.
These awards highlight the exemplary performance and dedication of these officers, setting a high standard for their peers.
The SPPCS is confident that these new officers will serve the community with honor, integrity, and a commitment to justice. Their addition to the force strengthens the SPPCS’s capability to maintain peace, order, and safety in Samoa.
