Apia, Samoa – 13th August 2024: Early Sunday morning, 11 August 2024, ten members of the Tactical Operation Section (TOS) of the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) departed for Canberra, Australia. They are set to undertake a week-long intensive tactical operation training, which is a critical component of the preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
This training has been made possible through the Samoa Australia Partnership Program, in collaboration with the Australian Federal Police. The SPPCS expresses its gratitude to the Australian Government and the Australian Federal Police for their ongoing support and commitment to enhancing the capabilities of Samoan law enforcement.
The training in Canberra is designed to further develop the tactical skills and operational readiness of SPPCS personnel as they prepare to ensure the safety and security of CHOGM 2024. This initiative underscores the importance of international cooperation and capacity-building in maintaining regional security and upholding the rule of law.
The ten officers selected for this training represent some of the most skilled and dedicated members of the TOS. Upon their return, they are expected to share their enhanced knowledge and expertise with their colleagues, further strengthening the SPPCS as a whole.
