SPPCS – Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Officers Lend a Helping Hand at Campus of Hope

Yesterday, 13th July 2024, officers from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) demonstrated their commitment to community service by extending a helping hand at the Campus of Hope in Tuana’imato. The team, led by Superintendent Aumua Col Aumua and Inspector Paul Tauaa, dedicated their day to cleaning and maintaining the campus grounds.

In addition to their physical efforts, the CID officers also made generous donations of goods and products for the children residing at the Campus of Hope. These contributions included essential items aimed at improving the well-being and daily lives of the young residents.

The Campus of Hope, founded by President and Founding Member Siliniu Lina Chang, provides a sanctuary for victims of crime, including children, teenagers, and mothers. The facility is not only a refuge but also a place of healing and support for those who have endured traumatic experiences. Many of the children at the Campus of Hope are directly linked to CID cases and have been victims of various crimes.

Superintendent Aumua expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to give back to the community, stating, “Our duty as law enforcement officers extends beyond maintaining law and order. We are also here to support and uplift the most vulnerable members of our society. It is our privilege to contribute to the well-being of these brave children and their families.”

Inspector Paul Tauaa echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of community involvement in the healing process. “Being able to connect with the residents of the Campus of Hope on a personal level is invaluable. Our presence here today signifies our ongoing commitment to their safety and recovery,” he said.

Siliniu Lina Chang warmly welcomed the CID officers, expressing her heartfelt appreciation for their efforts. “The support from the CID is a testament to the strength and unity within our community. Their willingness to help out and their generous donations mean so much to us and to the residents of the Campus of Hope. It shows that we are not alone in this journey.”

The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services remain dedicated to fostering a safer and more compassionate society. Initiatives like this underscore the vital role of community engagement in achieving these goals.
