Samoa Police Officers Participate in LECP Training in Brisbane

Detective Inspector Junior Va’alotu Fruean and Senior Education Officer Aviata Li’o Foleni of the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) recently attended a week-long training course in Brisbane, Australia, from July 7th to July 13th. This training was part of the Law Enforcement Cooperation Program (LECP) – Investigation.

The LECP is designed to introduce an innovative training delivery process between the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and their Pacific partners. The program aims to segment each important subject and expand the delivery to encompass various adult learning styles. Additionally, the program targets Pacific trainers, equipping them with the necessary tools and confidence to deliver these modules within their policing organizations.

The workshop brought together representatives from eight Pacific countries to analyze the module model’s viability and contextualize it to their respective nations. Thus far, the participants have completed the first two of twelve modules.

The involvement of SPPCS members in this training underscores Samoa’s commitment to enhancing its law enforcement capabilities through regional cooperation and advanced training methods.
