Friday, 9th August 2024 – Today marked the successful completion of the second phase of training for the Police Operation Centre & Computer-Aided Dispatch system, a key initiative aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS).
The ceremony began with a spiritual devotion led by Inspector Sitagata Filipo Iloilo, which set a reflective and respectful tone for the proceedings. The gathering was a significant moment, acknowledging the dedication and hard work of the participants who completed the intensive training program.
Superintendent Aumua Col Aumua delivered the key remarks, expressing deep appreciation to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) instructors for their unwavering support and expertise. He emphasized the importance of this training in strengthening the SPPCS’s preparedness, particularly in light of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). Superintendent Aumua also congratulated the participants on their accomplishments, highlighting that their newfound skills will significantly contribute to the safety and security of both the CHOGM and the broader Samoan community.
Sergeant Andrew Donaldson of the AFP provided valuable feedback on the training, commending the participants for their dedication and engagement. He reiterated the importance of the skills acquired during the training and expressed confidence in the SPPCS’s ability to apply these skills effectively in real-world scenarios.
The ceremony concluded with the awarding of certificates to the participants, symbolizing their successful completion of the program and their readiness to apply their training in service to the community.
This training, fully funded by the AFP, reflects the strong partnership between Samoa and Australia in advancing regional security and law enforcement capabilities. The SPPCS remains committed to leveraging this training to enhance its operational readiness and ensure the continued safety and security of Samoa.
